What is PCS Exam, Eligibility, Paper Pattern

PCS stands for Provincial Civil Service which is an administrative service. PCS exam was conducted by the State Public Service Commission. In any state, there is a vacant post, which was in control of the state government. to fill that vacant post-PCS exam was conducted.

The post which is available under the PCS exam is as follows Deputy Collector, Assistant Commissioner, SDM, DSP, ARTO, BDO, etc. after successfully clearing the exam you were posted in the higher post of that department.

Once you successfully made PCS you will never transfer to any other state although district wise transfer may be done. Every year more than lakhs of students appeared in exams but very few were selected and secured jobs.

Eligibility Criteria For PCS Exam :

To appear in this exam you have to pass your graduation from the well recognized or reputed university

Age Criteria :

To appear in this exam you have min age 21st and maximum age 40 years- Means those age less than 21st year are not eligible to fill this form age must be equal to 21st or greater than, and those age more than 40 are also not eligible to fill this form Means your age must lie between 21st to 40 year.

Although there is a relaxation in age for some reserved category Like OBC, SC, ST, and Physically handicapped people. there is no relaxation of age  for General or EWS Category Candidate

There is some special post in which height also matters for those post height criteria between 165 cm to 167 cm.


Exam Pattern :

It is a Three-Tier process in which the whole selection process distributed: Pre, Mains and then final interview

Pre-exam which is also called preliminary exams consists of two papers which have to give on the same day — Paper 1 which is called General Studies Consist of 200 Marks, Paper 2 Which is called CSAT which is qualifying nature. The merit was made by paper 1. after successfully clearing paper 1 you are eligible to appear in Mains Exam

Mains Examination: It Consists of GS1, GS2, GS3, GS4, all four papers have a weightage of 200 marks each. These all papers are descriptive and along with you have to choose an optional subject,

 The optional subject will have two question papers of 200 marks each then after that you have to give language paper i.e Hindi and the second one is Essay types which consist of 150 marks each. Total marks all of these subjects in the main combined was 1500 marks.

Interview: after that, you go for the interview round which was 100 marks

then a Final Merit list was made considering Mains Exam marks plus interview round marks
